Balance sheet

BALANCE SHEET The balance sheet is one of the report papers prepared within the Annual Financial Statements. It displays the condition of assets at a certain date (balance sheet date).

All our services are completely certified.

Basically, balance sheets are compiled in order to give an overview of the financial situation of the company. In money terms, overview of the condition of assets (according to its forms and composition), and sources. Balance sheets shall consists of data captured in the books.

For individual forms of assets separate accounts are set up that display the transformation of the individual components. In the Czech Republic, balance sheets are usually based on the balance equation (the total of assets = the total of liabilities). The balance sheet has the form of bilateral table, divided vertically (assets on the left, liabilities on the right). Assets and liabilities express the same total of assets used by the company – only viewed from two different perspectives.

The assets and liabilities are further divided into segments, and each segment contains separate accounts.  Asset segments are vertically arranged by their liquidity. Liabilities are divided into Own Resources and then Foreign Capital.

The balance sheet, however, has a limited explanatory value because it does not reflect the trend; it only captures the situation as of a certain date (balance sheet date).
